New World Knife: This knife is made from a 3 ¼ x 2’’ tiger skin obsidian blade that has been hafted to a 5'' choke cherry handle with simulated pine pitch and artificial sinew. Red, white and blue trade yarn give this knife its' medicine. The total length is 7 1/2’’.

When the Western Plains Indians began to realize the new and wondrous powers of the newcomers (Europeans), they attributed their unusual abilities to great medicines. They quickly began to copy their symbols, such as the cross and colors so that they too could capture some of this powerful medicine. This knife is a tribute to those great medicines.
